(*whew* it's been a while)
Last week M started calling our boycat Miles MyMy. Just out of the blue, Miles became "my friend MyMy". Neither Rae or I have ever called him this, so it's a thing of her own creation, coinciding with her new fixation, and it's just adorable. She wants to be the one to feed him in the morning and evening, she wants to be the one to brush him, and when we get home in the evenings she wanders the house calling "MyMy!" until she finds him. If he hangs out with us in the kitchen while we're cooking, she'll lay in the middle of the floor with her head on him like he's a furry pillow. We leave the house in the mornngs and she yells back into the house, "Bye, Chloe Anne! Bye, MyMy!"
This morning it was, "Bye, ChloeChloe! Bye, MyMy!" I hope for Chloe's sake M doesn't shift her full attention, as I have serious doubts about Chloe's ability to put up with M in quite the same way Miles does.
This is Miles. He's our 4 year old Maine Coon kitty. When we got him he was bout 8 weeks old (if memory serves) and was all hair and feet and had one of the loudest purrs I'd ever heard. He was a real loverboy, and we instantly fell in love with him, carrying him around the pet store while we looked at other kitties up for adoption and contemplating taking him home. The decision was a no-brainer, really, and he's been a huge part of the family ever since. No, really, he's huge. We didn't realize it at the time (we didn't know we were getting a Maine Coon kitty), but big feet on a kitty mean big cat down the road. Add to that he's a total fluffball, and he just looks big.
He's usually long haired, but these pics were taking this summer, just after he got his first ever shaving. He weighs in at 16.5 lbs, but I swear without the hair he's a good pound or two lighter. Anyhoo, He's all shaggy again, and I think we're going to get him shaved for Xmas, so I'll be sure to take some before and after pics.
See that little white spot on his neck? We didn't even know that was there until he got shaved, as the gray just totally takes over his neck when he's fluffy. I think it's cute, like a birthmark.
