Happy Birthday to Rae
Rae's birthday was yesterday. I had to help set up for a community meeting last night (fortunately another planner was 'working' the meeting, but he's new and I needed to help him get set up) so I wasn't home until just after 7p. The Girls decided to go to a local pizza joint for Rae's bday, so when I got home, off we went for dinner. It was packed and took a while to get our pizza, so it was a late evening and we ran out of time to bake a cake. I have another community meeting tonight that I do have to work, so won't be home until after 9p, so while it's not ideal that Rae bake her own cake for her bday, it will give her and M something to do tonight while I'm working.
M and I did give her her present yesterday morning. I was at the comic shop on Monday (day off, Veterans Day) and picked up the first TPB of the new Buffy series, Season 8. We were big Buffy fans, and I thought Rae would get a kick out of getting it (and I'll read it too, of course). M thought it was cool that mom was getting a comic book for her bday :)
This weekend M is off to her grandparents and Rae and I are headed out for dinner and a movie on Saturday evening. For dinner, I made us reservations at Blue Water Grill. I've heard good things, but a few mixed reviews as well. Still, Rae loves seafood, so here's hoping it's good. For our movie, I've picked something a bit different - Persepolis, an animated feature being shown as part of the St. Louis International Film Festival. It's based on a graphic novel of the same name, about a young girl coming of age in Iran during the cultural revolution. Should be interesting, hopefully fun. I'm sure we'll go for coffee and convo after the movie. Should be a nice birthday evening.
