Oh, yeah, and the camera is new. Happy Valentine's to me from Husband. It does really sold macro shots in good light.
Well, the last four or five months have been completely hectic. I'm trying to get back into the kitchen and back into the weight-range in which I want to be. It's hard.
Yesterday I went to the grocery store and bought groceries enough to make eight or so recipes from my Real Simple magazine. It was about $200 but that's less than we've been spending weekly on take-out (or restaurants, or whatever). It was kind of soothing to my OCD to plan a whole week's worth of food in one sitting, write out a grocery list and then go get it all. Oddly soothing, too, that I won't be having the "argh, what's for dinner" conversation when we're both exhausted and don't want to think about it.
So last night I made steak sandwiches with balsamic vinaigrette and gorgonzola. Those were yummy. They were even yummier for lunch today. A cold steak is so much easier to slice thin than a warm steak, and popping the sandwiches, ready to go, under the broiler to melt the gorgonzola was an inspired idea.
However, tonight's foray was not as delicious. Husband was nice enough to clear his plate, but I found the dish lacking. Tortellini with Peas and Tarragon just wasn't that good. I like all of those three things set apart, but the dish was bland. I sat there pushing it around on my plate after 10 bites or so trying to brainstorm what could possibly make it better.
"Bacon," I said suddenly. "It would be decent if it had bacon in it somehow."
"Everything is better with bacon in it, darling," said Husband.
I am this commercial now, all day, everyday. Too bad I don't have an Amex.
Hi, Vox. How ya been?
one upside of having almost 50 people in the office now is that on a holiday like Halloween, everyone dresses up. i think since most of these people are in costume, they won't mind that i'm posting these. i pumped gas like this this morning. i'm awesome.
below, a couple more.
i think my favorite has to be Kip Dynamite. but Magnum P.I. is a close second. but then there's Miss South Carolina, to whom i must give mad props.
tonight, we're going to carve our pumpkin and attempt to give out candy. the traffic on our street moves pretty fast though, so the really cute little trick-or-treaters might stay away.
Happy Halloween, all!
At work we're working tirelessly on a new website for our main client. It's a huge undertaking that I'm excited to be leading. I counted 15 people on my team today. Soon it'll be 20, I've no doubt; it's nuts.
Anyway, I've been looking at the new site in development and feeling pretty damn good that it looks as good as it does on the iPhone. We're working on a .mobi site for them in later phases but there probably won't be that much to do; the site's written with heavy duty PHP (did I mention we have more developers than designers now?) so we'll just strip out whatever we don't want for the .mobi.
I do wish they would speed up some Flash integration on the iPhone. Dunno how they will but it cramps my style.
I'm typing all this on the iPhone now. Somehow, it feels less like work. The laptop used to feel that way and before that a Mac, period. Ah, how jaded I am.
